TIMMINS, ON – The newly formed 100 Women Who Care – Timmins & Area held their inaugural meeting on Sunday, January 26, at the Timmins Museum Exhibition Centre, marking the beginning of a new charitable initiative in the community.

During the meeting, members considered three nominated organizations: the ONWA Crisis Worker Courage Program, the Northern Ontario Animal Welfare Society (NOAWS), and the Anti-Hunger Coalition. Following presentations about each organization, members selected the ONWA Crisis Worker Courage Program as their first funding recipient. This program provides essential support to Indigenous women, youth, and girls affected by sexual exploitation through trauma-informed, culturally-based practices.

The group’s collective donations will fund “Go Bags”, containing clothing, toiletries, and other essential items for Indigenous women fleeing human trafficking situations. Each member contributes $100 quarterly, with 100% of donations going directly to selected local causes.

New members joining by Sunday, February 2, will have their initial contribution support the ONWA Crisis Worker Courage Program. Membership includes a commitment to quarterly $100 donations supporting future selected causes.
